Here are 25 of our favorite resorts in Georgia – where do you love to stay, and what’s on your bucket list?

These are resorts that you may not know about — but you should!

8000 Capps Ferry Road | Douglasville | Escape To Foxhall

1,100 acres in the Georgia countryside make the perfect escape for your family. New accommodations on property range from one-bedroom traditional rooms with private porches and gorgeous views, to larger 2- & 3-bedroom lake villas with full kitchens and grand balconies.

Feel like splurging? Rent one of the 4-bedroom cottages with a fireplace in the great room, ideal for two families, or try one of the eight-bedroom luxury homes for large parties.

Sixteen lakes for paddleboarding, canoeing, and kayaking will keep you busy, and don’t miss hiking! There’s also tennis, golf, swimming pools, and a sports lawn. I know our family would love the guided ATV tours!

The outdoor sportsman will adore Foxhall, home to one of the first Beretta Trident Clays Courses in the country. There’s also seasonal hunts, sporting clays, fishing trips, archery…and that’s just the beginning.

Foxhall Resort’s Signature Restaurant is The Paddock Restaurant. Enjoy farm-to-table dining with succulent selections like wild boar, duck or bison, while overlooking the polo fields.

If you’re looking for something more adventurous, try one of these Georgia Glamping locations!

10950 Hutchesons Ferry Road | Chattahoochee Hills | Book Now

Rolling hills and glorious views welcome you to this 36-acre farm south of the city.

Experience a play from Serenbe Playhouse, take in the farm from horseback, walk the stone labyrinth, or relax at the pool. Rent bikes, take a hayride, enjoy a bonfire…the outdoor activities are endless. Be sure to reserve dinner at the Farmhouse and/or afternoon tea, Southern style.

Twenty-seven rooms on the property range from townhomes and lofts in the “luxury boho” community district, to cottages of all sizes dotted across the farm. Be sure to check the website for seasonal packages.

688 Bahn Innsbruck | Helen | Check Out Valhalla

Valhalla reigns as one of Helen’s newest accommodations, with a bit of modern luxury juxtaposing the Alpine charm of this North Georgia town.

Ask about rooms with a balcony, fireplace, or that welcome pets. This resort is best when you have a sitter, as it doesn’t cater to children. But with the kids at Grandma’s house, you’re sure to enjoy a romantic getaway with the full-service spa, outdoor swimming pool, and Innsbruck Golf Club.

Multiple size suites are available, or select the on-property bungalows or villas for larger parties or more privacy. Dine onsite at Celedonia, and be sure to enjoy a cocktail at the Roof Top SkyBar.

Little St. Simons Island | Glynn County | Read About Our Adventure | Book Your Stay

I barely have words to describe how incredible a visit to this all-inclusive private island resort will be for your family! It’s a Top 10 Georgia experience in my book; the natural beauty of the island puts me in a trance – it’s like a storybook.

Biking and beach time, shore fishing, boating on a skiff or kayak — and, oh! — the adventures with the naturalists! With a maximum of 32 guests at a time, you get plenty of one-on-one time learning about everything the island offers.

Meals are included…and how wonderful they are. The food prepared each mealtime is not your ordinary “hotel” food – it is DELICIOUS, creative and fresh! Many of the fruits and veggies come from the on-site USDA certified organic garden, which I recommend touring!

Five accommodation options dot the island, each with different benefits, from the affordable Hunting Lodge room, to the captivating Helen House.

Cumberland Island | Read About Our Stay

The Greyfield Inn on Cumberland Island was a present from Lucy Carnegie, wife of the lesser known steel magnate Thomas Carnegie, to her daughter Margaret Ricketson. The Carnegie decedents are the original and only owners of the The Greyfield Inn. They turned it into a hotel in the early 60’s, and still manage it today.

This all-inclusive resort offers the opportunity for children 7 and older to stay, but you’ll probably be more comfortable visiting as a couple. If you want to bring the family, there is a single suite at the inn, and adjoining rooms also…or you can ask for a roll-away bed.

Rates include your rooms and suites, ferry ride, meals, bikes, equipment and tours. Remember, there are no stores on Cumberland, but there’s no need for one with the resort’s garden and delicious meals.

2459-H U.S. Highway 280 West | Cordele | Read About Our Stay | Book Your Escape

Lake Blackshear Resort sits in Middle Georgia, with beautiful views of the lake created from the Flint River. Cypress trees and Spanish moss dot the edges of the lake, creating a spectacular view from the resort. With the proximity within Ga Veterans State Park and the SAM Shortline train, this is a relaxing and memorable place to bring the family for vacation.

Enjoy a standard hotel room at the Lodge, or a villa or 2-bedroom cabin with a kitchen. Dining and activities in the park and resort mean you never have to leave. The kids will also love the outdoor pool.

3499 US-76 | Hiawassee | Read About Our Weekend | Book Your Stay

Rooms at this mountain lake resort were renovated in March of 2018 and they are gorgeous! Choose from standards, suites or villas. Villas range from 2-4 bedrooms with full kitchens and patios. The draw here is not the rooms, though, but the views. Sit in the courtyard with a bonfire, seeing the fog rise over Lake Chatuge.

Bring your boat to the full-service marina, or rent a kayak, canoe, paddle boards or pontoon boat while you’re there. Water activities include pier fishing (poles included) or soaking up the rays at the saltwater pool. Off-site, Hiawassee is filled with plenty of fun as well.

Don’t miss dining at The Oaks Lakeside Kitchen, with delicious food and stunning mountain views.

Jekyll Island, once home to America’s privileged politicians, businessmen, socialites and such, was the perfect place to create an exclusive social club for wealthy Americans. Construction of the private club began in 1886, and the private and elite playground lasted well into WWII before dissolving.

Today, you can experience a taste of that family-friendly luxury.  Whether you are after architectural highlights, history, or fun, you will love a visit to this Georgia treasure.

100 Cloister Drive | Sea Island | More Information | Book Your Escape

For many Atlanta area families, The Cloister at Sea Island has been a muti-generational destination for decades. For those of us who didn’t grow up in Georgia, it’s a beach resort along the Georgia coast our native neighbors seem to revere.

Accommodations at this Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five-Diamond Resort range from guest rooms, to suites and private cottages. The rooms are larger than normal by 100-200 square feet.

The best part of a stay at The Cloister is the Beach Club. You enter through a hallway with a gift shop, candy store and 1950’s era soda fountain, past Southern Tide restaurant, to a grand area with three pools including an adult only lap pool, two family pools – one with zero entry, splash fountain, baby pool and hot tub.

201 Arnold Rd | St. Simons | Book Now

The King and Prince Resort on St. Simons Island Ga., is the only hotel that is right on the St. Simons Island beach.

597 Barnsley Gardens Rd NW | Adairsville | Book Now

Just up I-75 is an escape unlike any other in Georgia. It’s Barnsley Resort in Adairsville, Ga, and it is unmistakably one of the best romantic spots in the state.

We participated in a number of activities at the resort, including a horseback riding adventure through 3,000 acres of wooded beauty.  You don’t have to do them all – just what looks fun and what your pocketbook can handle.  In fact, many of these things can be done even without an overnight stay! However, I have to say that if your budget and schedule allows…do ALL THE THINGS.

There are lovely cottages, as well as traditional rooms in the Inn.  Our cottage came complete with a rolling fire in the fireplace and spectacular back porch. One of the best parts? The claw tooth tub with bubble bath!

The Inn at Barnsley Resort was designed to complement the amazing cottages that make up the resort’s English-inspired village. Guests can relax in their rooms or the expansive Living Room gathering area that features a grand staircase, beer garden, and fireplace as focal points.

100 Rue Charlemagne Drive | Braselton | Get Away

Imagine rolling vineyards and stately rooms in an Inn fit for a queen (or king)! That is the winery resort of Chateau Elan in Braselton. We love the packages here, from Culinary Tours to Bed & Breakfast Escapes.

Don’t forget the fantastic restaurant! From our French-inspired showpiece to an old-world speakeasy to a Southern-influenced chophouse, Chateau Elan is North Georgia’s premier destination for fine dining.

Want to enjoy something truly special? Book a room in a Spa or Golf Villa, with dinner and breakfast included.

110 Ocean Way | Jekyll Island | Book Now

Oceanfront guest rooms with new, modern amenities make the Westin a delightful place to stay. Pets are welcome in select rooms, and there is always something for kids.

The Reserve Steakhouse is right on site, and offers both indoor and outdoor dining.  The Westin Cafe is the only place you can find Starbucks coffee on the island.

Enjoy the zero-entry pool, and kids-eat-free packages.  Plus, it’s located right in the Jekyll Island Village — filled with restaurants and shops.

1 Lake Oconee Trail | Greensboro | Read More | Book Now

The rustic and elegant Ritz-Carlton, Reynolds Lake Oconee, is best known for its five championship golf courses and world-class luxurious spa. But here’s what you may not know – it’s the best resort for families in all of Georgia.

From the spacious suites to the outdoor activities, and from the ample amenities to the dining options, Reynolds Plantation lives up to the Ritz-Carlton name with their attention to detail and superb customer satisfaction — even for the youngest of customers.

1 Resort Drive | Savannah | Book Your Escape

Much like the Westin Jekyll Island, you’ll receive all the comforts of the Westin brand — like the spa, Fitness Studio and RunWESTIN perks. You’re also in the ideal location to explore what Savannah has to offer.

Perhaps the most unique feature is the onsite 2.1-mile Road Course – it’s for group events, not individual use…but seeing the Road Course in use is a special treat.
